Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi is penning new love songs while he recuperates after an assault which left him with a broken nose and two broken teeth.

Italian media say Mr Berlusconi, 73, is working on a new CD of songs with Mariano Apicella, a guitarist who has accompanied him on three albums before.

The pair are reported to have finished eight songs out of 12 which will appear on a CD to be released in the new year.

For seven years, Jennipher was forced to breastfeed the puppies of her husband's hunting dogs. After drinking and smoking heavily, Nathan Alowoi would appear at the marital bed, bind his young wife's legs and hands together and force the mewling animals to her nipple.

He had handed over two cows to his father-in-law as part of the "bride price" for his new wife. So, he reasoned, if the cows were no longer around to provide milk then his new purchase would have to provide for the pups. "I had to feed them all through the night; then in the morning he would untie me," his wife, now 26, explains matter-of-factly.
Her ordeal began out in the rural east in 2002 with the arrival of her first-born, a daughter called Achom. There was a reprieve with the second child, a boy named after his father as tradition dictates and thus protected from the indignity of having to share his mother's breast with the puppies. A former Roman Catholic archbishop in Argentina been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing a young seminarian while still in office.

Edgardo Storni, 73, was in charge of the archdiocese of Santa Fe when he abused the male student in 1992.

President Sarkozy suffered a blow to his ambition to lead a green revolution yesterday when France's constitutional court annulled a carbon tax that was to be introduced on Friday.

The Constitutional Council said that Mr Sarkozy's flagship scheme had so many exemptions that it "runs counter to the goal of fighting climate change and breaches the principle of equality in taxation".

The rejection scuppered what Mr Sarkozy had cast as an historic initiative that would make France a pioneer in the struggle to combat climate change. More...

The High Court said a government ban on non-Muslims using the word was unconstitutional.

An attorney who was aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 on Christmas Day says he saw another man come to the assistance of accused bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab when he tried to board the airplane in Amsterdam without a passport.

Kurt Haskell, a Taylor attorney, told FBI agents what he saw near the boarding gate at Amsterdam when he was questioned at Detroit Metropolitan Airport following Abdulmutallab's alleged attempt to blow up the aircraft, said Haskell's wife Lori, who is also an attorney and was traveling with her husband.

"The two of us were sitting on the floor playing cards," Lori Haskell told The Detroit News. "My husband noticed two men walk up to the ticket counter lady. The only reason he noticed them is that he thought they were really a mismatched pair." More...

Indonesian Facebook mum wins hospital defamation case...

An Indonesian court on Tuesday threw out a hospital's criminal defamation case against a mother-of-two who wrote emails to her friends complaining about a wrong diagnosis.

Bank worker Prita Mulyasari, 32, broke into tears and the court erupted with applause as the panel of judges dismissed Omni International Hospital's complaint, after a months-long trial that has outraged the nation.

"The email sent by the defendant doesn't contain any defamation. It constitutes criticism so the public will be protected from mistreatment by any hospital or doctor," the judges said in their ruling.

Mulyasari had written to about 20 of her friends about being misdiagnosed with dengue fever at the hospital, when in fact she had mumps. More...

Hedy Epstein, the 85 year old Holocaust survivor and peace activist, announced that she will begin a hunger strike today as a response to the Egyptian government’s refusal to allow the Gaza Freedom March participants into Gaza.

Ms. Epstein was part of a delegation with participants from 43 countries that were to join Palestinians in a non-violent march from Northern Gaza towards the Erez border with Israel calling for the end of the illegal siege. A 50-year-old Turkish Kurd was jailed for life in Germany on Tuesday over the brutal "honour killing" of his 20-year-old daughter, a murder carried out by the victim's twin brother and an accomplice.

Gulsum Semin was lured to a patch of wasteland on March 2 where her brother, named in media reports as Davut Semin, and his Russian accomplice strangled her with a clothes line until she lost consciousness, police said in April.

The pair then beat her in the face with sticks so badly that she died from her injuries, leaving her looking "as if she had been run over by a train," the Bild daily cited a medical expert as telling the court.

They then took her purse to look it look like a violent robbery and covered the body with leaves.

Sex-starved wife smears reluctant husband with excrement!!!

A miner who allegedly refused his wife sex on Christmas Eve was smeared with human waste by his sex starved and irate wife.

The embarrassing incident folded last Thursday at around 11:30pm at Ezindwendweni area in the Shiselweni region.

A source close to the matter alleged that Thuli Motsa (23) was angry at her husband, Rudolf Motsa (34), and further accused him of denying her sex despite the fact they had not seen each other for the past three months because Rudolf works in one of the mines around Rustenburg, South Africa.

Thuli is also alleged to have accused her husband of cheating on her, thus his refusal to have sex with her at the time she needed it the most. More...

A shopping centre in China's Hebei province has built a car park with wider spaces that it says is designed especially to suit women drivers.

The women-only car park in Shijiazhuang city is also painted in pink and light purple to appeal to female tastes.

An Italian toy store opened at 4 a.m. on Christmas morning to help a frantic mother whose gifts for her children had been stolen from a basement.

After putting her two toddlers to bed on Christmas Eve, the mother went down to the basement storage room of the apartment block in northern Italy where she had hidden them, only to find that they had been stolen, according to Italian media reports.

Police found out about the theft while the mother was frantically making the rounds of all-night petrol stations looking for substitute gifts so her two daughters would have something under the tree when they woke up on Christmas morning.

The police contacted the owner of a toy store in a small town near Turin, who opened his store at 4 a.m.

Two mothers swap babies in Chennai hospital!!!

In a curious case of mutual consent, two women at a government maternity hospital in Egmore tried to swap their newborn babies, but got caught in the act. One of them, who already had two daughters, wanted a male child, while the other, who had a son, wanted a girl. They had struck a deal to swap infants. But while walking out with the infant, one of the women was stopped by an ambulance driver. On police interrogation, both women confessed they had planned the whole thing.

S Thangam (34), a native of Alandur, was rushing out of the hospital with a baby boy at 7 am on Friday when ambulance driver Muthalagan stopped her on suspicion and reported her to the duty nurse. he number of people who committed suicide in Japan has exceeded 30,000 for 12 years in a row, the National Police Agency said Friday.

From January to November this year, 30,181 Japanese killed themselves, the agency said. Of them, 21,566 were men and 8,615 were women.

Two thieves on a motor-scooter flew by and snatched a womans purse on a street in Wenzhou, China. Surveillance video shows a man riding a bicycle. As he was passing by the front of a hotel near where the thievery happened, he stopped, calmly got off his bicycle, picked it up, and then threw it at the thieves. The bicycle hit them, they lost control, and crashed to the ground.

A US teenager who blackmailed fellow students at his secondary school into having sex after using their Facebook images has been convicted.

Anthony Stancl, 19, from Wisconsin, admitted two counts of sexual assault and in return other more serious charges were dropped.

Prosecutors said he tricked boys into sending naked images of themselves, and then blackmailed the boys for sex.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry issued a list of 27 grievances connected to the arrest of Hannibal Gaddafi, who was apprehended with his wife in July 2008 for allegedly beating up their servants in a Geneva hotel.

Pakistan's Supreme Court says eunuchs must be allowed to identify themselves as a distinct gender in order to ensure their rights.

The eunuchs, known as "hijras" in Pakistan, are men castrated at an early age for medical or social reasons.

The court said they should be issued with national identity cards showing their distinct gender.

Une jeune femme au Pakistan vendue aux enchères !!!

Une jeune femme de 20ans a été adjugée au village de Badani Bhutto de Taluka Kashmore en contrepartie de Rs2, 70.000 samedi dernier.

Azizan, fille du feu Allah Bux Bhutto, a divorcé il y a quelque temps. Elle est apparemment la mère de deux enfants et résidait avec un frère, qui a tenu des enchères ouvertes pour sa «vente» au village de Badani Bhutto.

Un grand nombre de villageois ont manifesté leur intérêt à l'enchère qui a commencé avec 50,000 roupies et s'est terminée à Rs270, 000. Bilawal Bhutto, 50 ans, du même village a acheté la femme pour ledit montant. Initialement il avait payé RS210, 000 pour la fille.

Maulana Azizullah Bhutto a exécuté leurs nikah plus tard.

Etrangement, personne n’a condamné cet acte inhumain. L’acheteur amènera la femme à sa maison après avoir payé le reste du montant. L'argent aux enchères a été partagé également entre tous les frères de la jeune fille.

Ville chaotique, trafic dangereux... telle est la réputation de New Delhi, la capitale indienne. Mais depuis peu, un Hollandais et une Suissesse proposent une visite de la ville qui détourne ce cliché: un tour à bicyclette aux premières lueurs du matin.

La ville est encore endormie. Quelques chauffeurs de taxi se sont arrêtés au coin de la rue pour engloutir leur premier chaï de la journée [thé au lait sucré avec des épices, typiquement indien]. Grippe A : mais où est passée la pandémie ?

« La pandémie de grippe H1N1 est “en pleine accélération” en France, a prévenu la ministre de la Santé Roselyne Bachelot, lors d'une visite du collège Jules-Romains à Paris (VIIe arrondissement). […] Le début […] des vaccinations en collèges et lycées “se passe dans une période de pleine accélération de la pandémie, avec un nombre de cas graves également en augmentation et de cas, hélas mortels, aussi en pleine augmentation”, a déclaré la ministre ».

Un mois après cette déclaration, faite le 25 novembre (dépêche Reuters reprise par le site Nouvelobs.com), force est de constater que c'était du pipeau. Et que la ministre, soit le savait, soit était manipulée. Il n'y a pas de pandémie, il n'y en a pas eu et, selon toute vraisemblance, il n'y en aura pas. Suite...

Schools across France are facing revolts from students demanding the right to wear raunchy clothing banned by educators.

The protests, which some observers say signals a new sexualisation of French teenage life, began at Lycée Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire in Essonne, south of Paris, where teenagers protested by coming into school for two days running in skimpy clothes. At Lycée Condorcet d'Arcachon in Gironde, 200 students recently took to the town to protest against a new dress code, which stated that students could not wear low-slung trousers, short garments or piercings. "We're at school, we don't want to feel like we are in a prison," one student said.

The protest in Essonne was in retaliation to the rules imposed by a new headteacher, who banned holes in trousers and in garments above the knee. More...

The existence of these arrangements are not new, but the scope is larger than previously thought, a new study by the Pan American Development Foundation found. The foundation conducted the largest field survey of human rights violations in Haiti.

Child-stamping "holy man" arrested in India!!!

A bizarre holy man has been arrested on child torture charges after horrified parents found him stamping on their youngsters' throats to cure them of colds. Self-proclaimed demi-god Jamun Yadav, 50, told police his holy Hindu powers allowed him to transfer divine energy from the soles of his feet. He said the amazing feets of magic allowed him to fight all illnesses in Katihar, eastern India. "This is scandalous and we have arrested him. The parents didn't know just what his treatment involved when they agreed to it," said police spokesman Santosh Singh. "He claims he needs no defence in court because he speaks for God. So it should be an interesting trial," he added.

Food giant Nestlé halts operations in Zimbabwe...

Nestlé has suspended operations in Zimbabwe, citing harassment after pulling out of a deal to buy milk from a farm taken over by President Robert Mugabe’s family.

The Swiss food multinational said it had received an unannounced visit from government officials and police on December 19 and was forced to accept a milk delivery from non-contracted suppliers.

Two of its managers were questioned by police and were released without charge the same day.

In a statement the Vevey-based company said that “under such circumstances normal operations and the safety of employees are no longer guaranteed”. More...
