Chinese fight swine flu with garlic...
The pungent root of that nickname is stacked in bags on and around Liu's haulage truck. Garlic prices have jumped so high in China that the crop has outperformed gold and stocks to be the country's best performing asset this year.
As H1N1 swine flu continues to worry China's leaders — who are rolling out a nationwide vaccine program — its people seek a more traditional remedy. Just as some Chinese turned to turnips to prevent the SARS virus in 2003, garlic has emerged as a swine flu fighter in 2009. More...

Man in Uganda makes his wife breast-feed his dog's puppies. Normal, he says, I paid two cows for her...
He had handed over two cows to his father-in-law as part of the "bride price" for his new wife. So, he reasoned, if the cows were no longer around to provide milk then his new purchase would have to provide for the pups. "I had to feed them all through the night; then in the morning he would untie me," his wife, now 26, explains matter-of-factly.
Her ordeal began out in the rural east in 2002 with the arrival of her first-born, a daughter called Achom. There was a reprieve with the second child, a boy named after his father as tradition dictates and thus protected from the indignity of having to share his mother's breast with the puppies. But when the third child, another son, Olinga, was born, a new litter was brought to suckle. More...

Cheating husbands are good for marriage, says French psychologist!!! (And cheating wives?)
Wives should welcome their husbands' extra-marital affairs as a sign of a healthy marriage, France's most prominent female psychologist has claimed.
Maryse Vaillant claims French men should stop being castigated for being serial womanisers and that keeping a mistress can actually improve their marriage.
In a controversial new book on the effects of infidelity on married life, Men, Love, Fidelity, Miss Vaillant says her aim is to "re-habilitate infidelity".
According to figures cited in the book, an estimated 39 per cent of French men cheat on their wives at some stage in their life. More...

Two mothers swap babies in Chennai hospital!!!
In a curious case of mutual consent, two women at a government maternity hospital in Egmore tried to swap their newborn babies, but got caught in the act. One of them, who already had two daughters, wanted a male child, while the other, who had a son, wanted a girl. They had struck a deal to swap infants. But while walking out with the infant, one of the women was stopped by an ambulance driver. On police interrogation, both women confessed they had planned the whole thing.
S Thangam (34), a native of Alandur, was rushing out of the hospital with a baby boy at 7 am on Friday when ambulance driver Muthalagan stopped her on suspicion and reported her to the duty nurse. Asked for an exit pass with details of her discharge, Thangam fumbled. Around the same time, the staff heard another woman from the post-operative ward screaming that her newborn boy was missing.
