Authorities in Bahrain were forced to release an 11-year-old boy held in custody for nearly a month amid rising outrage over the detention and alleged torture of scores of children caught up in the kingdom's pro-democracy protests.
A juvenile court judge ordered police to hand Ali Hasan Alqudaishi over to his parents after domestic and foreign human rights groups petitioned for his release.
