FACEBOOK has been given a final warning by France’s data watchdog to stop spying on people who are not signed in to the site.
The Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (Cnil), which is charged with monitoring the use of data and privacy has issued a mise en demeure over its data collection practices.
The company has been given three months to stop collecting data on the internet use of people who visit Facebook pages but do not sign in to the network.
At the moment, Facebook installs a cookie on the computer of any user visiting one of its pages, such as fan pages and company pages. Full story...
