Midwives in New Zealand warned against "bad" vaccine advice...

Midwives who give bad vaccine advice to expectant parents will be held to account, the group's governing body warns.

The warning followed reports of anti-vaccine material being circulated to pregnant women by some antenatal teachers and midwives.

Midwifery Council chief executive Sharron Cole said they were concerned some midwives were undermining a health push to increase vaccination rates.

"If midwives do not give women balanced, accurate and current information, we will hold them accountable as they are falling short of the high professional standards that we apply to all practitioners."

The Council had not received any complaints but called on women to speak up if they were given misleading advice on vaccines.

"No midwife may give out information that is not factually correct. If they do, we will not hesitate to take appropriate action to hold them accountable." Full story...
