Baba Ramdev, a high-profile multimillionaire Indian entrepreneur who earned his fortune running a yoga empire, has publicly endorsed the stick after rape cases continue to make headlines in India.
Dr. Pavan Koli launched the non-lethal baton which he claims is the “first fully-legal and complete self-defense device for women,” on March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Ramdev has a huge army of mostly female devotees from all over the world. he is a constant presence on television shows where he urges people to use yoga as a solution to many issues, from tackling corruption through to helping with sex education in schools.
But after observing the rise of violence against women in India he decided to market the device through his business empire.
The defence stick is not only a knife, extendable club and pepper spray, but also includes a torch, siren, stun gun, and a GPRS enabled panic button. Full story...
