A 65-year-old wife and her son have both been arrested by police over plans to fly her husband to Switzerland to help him commit assisted suicide.
The pensioner and her son, 25, both from Chichester, West Sussex, are alleged to have arranged to travel to a Dignitas clinic in Zurich so the 71-year-old man could terminate his life.
They were both arrested on August 8 and have now been released on bail until October 8 pending further enquiries.
Officers are now investigating whether the elderly man had the mental capacity to want to end his life before deciding whether a crime has been committed.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: 'Police have been made aware of suggestions that a man and a woman from West Sussex could be planning to take a vulnerable pensioner to the Dignitas clinic in Switzerland so that he can end his life. Full story...
