An immigrant who suffered a stroke in New Jersey received a shock when he woke up in a hospital in Poland.
Wladyslaw Haniszewski had lived in the US state for over 30 years before he fell into a coma and deported to the country where he was born.
The 69-year-old, who authorities say was living in the country illegally, was being treated at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick but did not have any medical insurance.
Medical officials in the Polish town of Boleslawiec have accused the hospital of carting Mr Haniszewski around ‘like a sack of potatoes’ while unconscious, without telling his family or friends.
The Polish hospital also claims he was ‘dumped on their doorstep’ without them agreeing to the transfer. Full story...
