Ferrari scandal hits China's Communist party...

China's Communist party has been hit by a fresh scandal as the son of President Hu Jintao's chief-of-staff was reportedly killed after crashing his Ferrari.

Ling Gu, 23, was said to have smashed a black Ferrari 458 Spider at high speed into the side wall of Beijing's fourth ring road at 4am on March 18, killing himself.

There were two women with him in the two-seater sports car, but it is not known if they survived.

For months the news of the accident was suppressed because Ling's father, Ling Jihua, 55, was a key aide of Mr Hu.

The latest scandal, which has been censored from the Chinese media and internet, comes just weeks before the party unveils a sweeping change to its top leadership.

 It is likely to re-raise questions about how the sons of Communist party leaders, who officially earn just £10,000 a year, can afford £500,000 sports cars. Full story...
