Indian guru Nithyananda taken into police custody...

Indian guru Nithyananda Swami - facing assault charges - has surrendered to the authorities in Bangalore and has been remanded in custody.

Accompanied by his lawyers and a few devotees, he arrived at a court on Wednesday and was taken into custody by police for a day of questioning.

He is being held following separate complaints of assault made by a journalist and social activists.

Nithyananda denies all charges made against him.

His devotees have filed a counter-complaint against his accusers. They say the allegations made against him are malicious conspiracies. Full story...
