Swiss hostage Max Göldi leaves Libya after two-year detention...

Swiss detainee Max Göldi has left Libya on the eve of an eventful day in which Bern and Tripoli signed an accord to end their two-year diplomatic dispute.

The businessman has been caught in the middle of a row between Switzerland and Libya since July 2008. A deal to normalise relations has now been signed – the second such accord since the dispute began.

Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey was in Tripoli to sign the deal on Sunday with her Libyan counterpart Mousa Kousa. It was witnessed by Spain's foreign minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos, and a German government representative. More...
