Eating spicy curry in outer space? Indian scientists are working on it...

As part of India's efforts to send a human into space by 2015, a team of military scientists has been set a particularly tricky mission: to develop a curry fit to broach the final frontier. 

India wants to supply its astronauts with familiar foods, but faces several hurdles in making its national dishes suitable for orbit, according to A.S. Bawa, the director of the Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), which is tackling the task. “Curry tends to be spicy, high in fat content and uses many ingredients; all these factors present significant challenges,” he told The Times. “We can not afford the stomach of an astronaut to be strained”.
