Facebook has announced video calling, powered by Skype, as the first in a series of improvements to its social networking service, used by 750m people, coming over the next few weeks and months.
New features such as an iPad app, the integration of Skype video calling and even a music service had garnered the most speculation ahead of a news conference at its Palo Alto headquarters on Wednesday . However, Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed only the partnership with Skype, which has been bought by Microsoft, subject to regulatory approval.
Mr Zuckerberg opened the news conference, saying that projects had been worked on for the past six months and, over the next few weeks and coming months, there would be a series of product rollouts. More...
