Gold rings for babies given Tamil names in Tamil Nadu!!!

Any guesses how many babies born in Chennai in the course of the next one year will have classicalTamil names like Nedunchezhiyan, Thenmozhi, Ponnaiyan and Thamizhachi? Well, the Chennai Corporation expects that at least 5,000 to 7,000 newborns will be named so by parents annually.

Based on this premise, it has decided to invite bids from gold jewellers to manufacture 6,500 gold rings of one gram each, which would be presented to each newborn baby with a classical Tamil name as per Chennai mayor M Subramanian’s policy announcement earlier this year.
