Moving away from doling out traditional gifts like saris, rings and nose pins to women voters, the candidates are now offering gold dollars of Lord Balaji, free cellar darshan tickets and Kalyanamastu-type free marriages. Sources said the contestants are keen to cash in on the Lord of riches by showering celestial gifts to women.
A candidate, on condition of anonymity, said: 'We know that women voters love saris, nose pins and rings. But this time, we have decided to woo them by distributing 2gm gold coated dollar emblems of Lord Balaji. Each dollar costs Rs 3,000.
