Italian striker Balotelli threatens to kill racists who throw bananas...

MARIO BALOTELLI has threatened to kill anyone who throws a banana at him during next month's European Championships. The volatile Manchester City striker has been selected in the Italian squad for the tournament amid growing concerns that Europe's top players will be subject to racist abuse in the Ukraine and Poland.

Earlier this week former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has urged fans not to travel to Eastern Europe unless they wish to return "in a coffin", comments that drew a sharp response from Ukrainian officials and public figures.

But the families of England players Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have said they won't be travelling to the Championships because of racism concerns but Balotelli intends to tackle the problem head on and has issued a stark warning to the host countries. In an interview with France Football, the 21-year-old said: "If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to prison because I will kill him." Full story...
