China's bureaucrats are famous for enjoying privileged lives, but few expect corrupt bureaucrats to continue their lives of luxury after being caught and put in prison. Yet some Chinese jails accommodate bureaucrats-turned-criminals with lavish facilities and privileges, according to China Digital Times.
These prisons are fully equipped European-style buildings with upscale bars, exclusive offices, large conference centers, 20 square meter cells (with balconies), stadiums, basketball courts and a manmade river and park.
China's government has created luxury jails for bureaucrats that have been sacked and are nominally set up for the re-education of those that have fallen foul. Seven luxury prisons have been built in China, according to reports on entertainment news site mop.com.
