How would a doctor comfort a man who just lost both his legs in a train accident? Doctors at Malda district hospital on Tuesday tried to help the man in excruciating pain by putting his severed legs under his head, as pillows.
District Chief Medical Officer of Health has now ordered an inquiry into the incident. Early on Tuesday, Soren Tudu, 26, a resident of Jharbari village in South Dinajpur district was returning from Delhi, where he worked as a labourer. At 3.30 am, he got down at Malda station, close to his home in Dinajpur.
The accident occurred while he was crossing the tracks and failed to get out of the way of a speeding Kolkata-Guwahati Garibrath.
GRP inspector Sanjib Mishra said, “Soren was bleeding profusely and we rushed him to the Malda District Hospital. We took the severed limbs to the hospital as it is mandatory for us to do so.” More...
