Mystery over Tony Blair’s millions for charity...

Tony Blair won much praise when he announced with great fanfare last August that he was donating his huge earnings from his memoirs to the Royal British Legion. Curiously, the Armed Forces charity seems reluctant to trumpet his generosity.

Mandrake can report that the Legion’s latest accounts, which cover the 12 months to the end of September 2010, make no mention of its having received any money from the former prime minister.

“We can’t disclose any information about individual private donations,” says its spokesman. “To see a payment schedule, you should go through Tony Blair’s office.” More...
