Dentists are robbing patients twice over by fitting costly crowns which fall apart within a few years and damaging perfectly healthy teeth for cosmetic reasons.
A senior consultant claims some dentists are using ‘imaginary’ diseases to force patients to undergo unnecessary work.
Martin Kelleher, restorative dentistry consultant at King’s College, London, said patients were having their teeth destroyed because some dentists diagnose them with ‘porcelain deficiency disease’ and also an excess of enamel.
‘It probably goes without saying that both of these conditions are imaginary yet... they are perceived to exist by some ‘‘cosmetic’’ dentists,’ he said. More...
