Qatar Airways beats SIA to win best airline award...


Qatar Airways has surprised established heavyweights by clinching the title of Best Airline at the latest World Airline Awards.

The Middle Eastern carrier beat out Singapore Airlines (SIA) for the top spot.

SIA finished second for the third year running in the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards, held during the Paris Air Show last week. It last clinched first place in 2008.

Last year's winner, South Korea's Asiana Airlines, finished third this time round. Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways rounded out the top five.

SIA won the title of Best Airline in Asia, and the Best Airline for Business Class. It finished second in the Best Airline In-flight Entertainment category behind Emirates airlines. More...
