The British Library has turned to Google to take on the cost of publishing 250,000 books online, it has emerged.
Under a major project to digitise 40 million pages from 1700-1870, the two organisations announced a partnership to open access to one of the greatest collections of books in the world.
The content is to made available to researchers anywhere in the world free of charge through the Google Books service and the British Library website.
Users will have the option to view, copy, share and manipulate text for non-commercial purposes. More...
