At least 13 northern Alabama high school students have been suspended and will spend time in an alternative school after being accused of drinking wine on the school chorus' spring break trip to Italy.
Decatur High School Choral Director Carl Davis reported the students Monday on his return from the trip.
Decatur High Principal Mike Ward says the students will spend 20 days at the alternative school.
Ward says the students admitted their involvement and the punishment is automatic for anyone who violates the code of conduct by drinking alcohol at a school function.
The violations occurred in separate instances during the trip. Ward says one occurred when some students distracted their chaperones so other students could buy wine. Source...
