A musician is savouring the sound of silence - because he's finally stopped hiccuping after three years of hell.

Chris Sands is on the road to recovery after being plagued by the spasms that left him unable to sleep, eat or drive.

He first started hiccuping in December 2006. They lasted two weeks, but then returned four months later.
