Vaclav Klaus, the only leader who dared stand up to Europe...

In a melancholy way, it has been vastly entertaining to see the rage provoked in Brussels and Europe's political class by the continuing dalliance of the Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, over ratification of the European Constitution (aka the Lisbon Treaty). A leading German MEP has called for his impeachment.

The European Commission's President, Jose-Manuel Barroso, gives tight-lipped press conferences warning Klaus that unless he signs the Czechs will lose their Commissioner. What Barroso doesn't explain is that, if the treaty comes into force, the Czechs may well lose their Commissioner anyway. More...
