Scientist Ray Kurzweil claims humans could become immortal in as little as 20 years' time through nanotechnology and an increased understanding of how the body works.
The 61-year-old American, who has predicted new technologies arriving before, says our understanding of genes and computer technology is accelerating at an incredible rate.
He says theoretically, at the rate our understanding is increasing, nanotechnologies capable of replacing many of our vital organs could be available in 20 years time.

ReplyDeleteTony... none can become immortal physically unless one gained enlightenment in their lifetime! Enlightenment is difficult to gain... the prime reason why in last about 150 years amongst 7 billion people existing world over only two persons reached the stage of enlightenment... ReplyDeleteThe concept of physical immortality as believed by most is flawed! Physical immortality can never be gained in human form! Physical immortality is reaching the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) and finally salvation (moksha)... when our soul atman finally liberates self from cycle of birth and death forever... regains its lost original pure prime pristine primordial form!
Who becomes immortal? Why, everyone, I suppose!Or no one. I doubt God, if there is such an entity, amuses himself by playing at favouritism or nepotism!!!
ReplyDeleteTony... I believe in god as God Almighty is not form of human beings. Only when God Almighty explodes self with a big bang... the whole cosmos gets created... never otherwise! If we as human beings exist... so does God Almighty! In every single human being exists God Almighty; in miniscule form as our soul atman... the spirit within!
ReplyDeleteAt the time of big bang... all souls atmans are immortal... without impurities! But with occurrence of big bang all souls' atmans spread all over cosmos at unimaginable speeds! In the melee... the hurtling souls' atmans gathered impurities! To cleanse themselves of dross impurities within starts cosmic life cycle of every soul atman!
Does it really matter how we came to be or how it all started? We are here and now. Let's just do the best we can of whatever we have to do and not be bothered about the past ... or the future!
