Pirate Party officially launched in the UK...

As of July 30, the Pirate Party UK was officially added to the electoral register of political parties in the UK. 

This means the group can now have a Pirate Party candidate standing at the next general election.

The Pirate Party, which is not related to the Pirate Bay torrent site, wants to legalise internet file-sharing, safeguard people’s online privacy and abolish the patent system. In June 2009 it won a seat in the European Parliament, after capturing 7.1 per cent of votes in Sweden, which was enough to give its single seat. More...
