Maori TV defies chinese request to pull controversial doco on exiled Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer...

Despite a plea from Chinese embassy officials, Maori Television is to screen the controversial documentary The 10 Conditions of Love, which caused a diplomatic standoff with China in Australia. 

Embassy officials on Wednesday asked Maori Television not to screen the documentary, the story of exiled Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer. 

The request was declined and it will show on Tuesday, September 1, at 8.30pm, Maori Television said. 

The documentary recently featured in the Melbourne International Film Festival, where Chinese authorities protested to the Australian government and called for its withdrawal from the festival. More...
