Parents offered incentive to make their kids attend class: a free curry meal!!!

A scheme to cut truancy rates is sure to have traditionalists breaking out in a sweat.

Headteachers in Southampton are trying to motivate parents to make sure their children turn up for school with the prospect of a free curry.

The plan has been mocked as 'ridiculous' but one headteacher said truancy rates had halved.

Under the scheme, children with high attendance rates or those whose truancy has dramatically declined are entered into a draw. The winner's parents win a curry house meal voucher worth £40. More...

Don't miss:

  1. Men in Nepal offered cash "incentive" to marry widows!!!
  2. Church of England to distribute free beer on Father's Day!!!
  3. In Saudi Arabia you get a free wedding ... if you stop smoking!!!
  4. In India's Tamil Nadu, you get a gold ring if you give your baby a Tamil name!!!
