Headteachers in Southampton are trying to motivate parents to make sure their children turn up for school with the prospect of a free curry.
The plan has been mocked as 'ridiculous' but one headteacher said truancy rates had halved.
Under the scheme, children with high attendance rates or those whose truancy has dramatically declined are entered into a draw. The winner's parents win a curry house meal voucher worth £40. More...
