Scottish cows can fart without being taxed...

Ministers have pledged there will be no 'flatulence tax' levied on methane-producing animals.

Farmers had voiced concerns that a new charge linked to the gas their cattle produce would hurt financially.

However, Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson has extracted a promise from the UK Government that it did not intended to introduce such a measure.

Mr Stevenson said other countries in Europe were considering a new tax to combat climate change. More...
