MPs are set to bust the government's public sector pay cap yet again with a 1.4 per cent rise.
The salary for politicians is set to go up by more than £1,000 from April next year to £76,011.
It means their pay will have risen nearly £10,000 in less than two years. A 1.3 per cent uplift this year came hot on the heels of a big boost from £67,000 to £74,000 in July 2015.
News of the latest hike caused fury among public sector workers who have been subject to tough restrictions since 2010.
Dave Prentis, general secretary of Unison, said families were enduring 'real hardship' and the pay cap should apply to 'everyone'
Former sleaze watchdog Sir Alistair Graham said it would look 'very generous' to those who were still suffering through austerity. Full story...
