Building a toilet in India turned out to be our best ever family holiday...

If you’re a parent who’s ever started a conversation with: 'You lot don’t know you’re born..’ Or maybe, ‘You’ve just had it all too easy’ then this is the holiday feature for you.

I know on the face of it a week spent bricklaying a step for a school toilet block in the searing heat of India’s Rajasthan may not sound like a holiday in the conventional sense of the word.

But it was the best holiday we’ve ever had.

For if you want a holiday away from Nick Jnr and Netflix, from Minecraft and materialism, Snapchat and Starbucks, volunteering as afamily in a developing country, is it.
