Two youths competing on Facebook for the affection of a woman they had been wooing, clashed and stabbed each other after one of them posted selfies he'd taken with her on Facebook.
Police arrested and booked both on attempt-to-murder charges in Basaveshwaranagar, west Bengaluru recently . While the boys fought each other, the girl, unaware of the clash, was enjoying a realty show on TV at home.
Ajit Kumar and Shiva Prasad, both around 27 and residents of Rajajinagar and Basaveshwaranagar respectively, were college dropouts and did odd jobs, police said quoting their families. Ajit and Shiva were friends with Soni (name changed), who lived nearby . Early this month, Ajit and Soni took selfies at a shoping mall and he posted them on Facebook.Shiva Prasad, who did not like Soni going around with others, objected to it.
On August 3, Shiva Prasad posted messages on Ajit's FB page, objecting to the photos and asked him to remove the pictures. “Shiva Prasad claimed the girl loved him,“ police added.
“Ajit replied that Shiva Prasad had no right to advise him and Soni loved him.Heated messages were exchanged. Ajit posted his mobile number, asking him to call back,“ police said.
Shiva Prasad called Ajit for a duel near Shankar Mutt, Basaveshwaranagar, west Bengaluru, the same night.“Both arrived with their supporters and clashed with each other. Some onlookers called us,“ police said .
