To mark the occasion, Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire has announced it is offering free entry on the day to all visitors with red hair, who’ll be able to save nearly £20 on the price of a ticket.
Twycross Zoo is home to four Bornean Orangutans: a 27-year-old male called Batu, females Kibriah, 39, Maliku, 22, and five-year-old Molly, daughter of Maliku and Batu, who was born at the zoo.
Over the past six decades the number of Orangutans in the wild has fallen by 50%, according to figures from the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
“This rate of decline is expected to continue, “ says Twycross Zoo, “so it is absolutely vital that we work with other organisations to ensure the conservation of these beautiful animals. Full story...
