Fresh stats on Monday revealed that the wealthier tourists are turning away from France following the recent spate of terror attacks.
In fact, since the start of 2016 the number of nights spent in France by foreign visitors has dropped by 10 percent.
But a French minister has pointed out that despite two shocking terror attacks in 2015, the country welcomed a record 85 million visitors. While many will no doubt turn their backs preferring to be cautious, there are a few reasons why France is still likely to retain its crown as the most visited country in the world.
It almost goes without saying, but the French capital is a huge draw for foreign visitors – over 30 million of them a year in fact, more than any other city in the world.
