Plant a tree each time you violate a traffic rule. To instill social duty, the police in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana, India have said traffic violators will have to plant a sapling in addition to other punishment and relevant fines.

The idea comes from a brainchild of Mahbubnagar district’s superintendent of police Rema Rajeshwari and became operational before 3 weeks ago

Till now minimum 2,765 violators have planted saplings throughout the district and the police are aiming at planting 1 million saplings in police stations, residential quarters, office buildings and district police office complex.
