Chennai rains: Residents open doors, and hearts, for all...

Tuesday saw torrential and non-stop rain in the city, leaving roads flooded and residents struggling to find a safe place to stay dry. Even as nature tried its best to test human resolve, scores of local residents took it upon themselves to help others by opening their doors to those in need.

In a heartening gesture that highlighted the resilient spirit of Chennai, many took to Twitter and other social media platforms to invite those in need into their homes. Many who were fortunate to have their homes dry put out messages saying they would welcome anyone in need to spend the night with them, in safety.
