Ever heard of Internet.org ?
According to their website, “Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative bringing together technology leaders, nonprofits and local communities to connect the two thirds of the world that doesn’t have internet access.”
Internet.org describes itself as a partnership between social networking services company Facebook and six other mega telecom giants including Samsung, Ericsson, MediaTek, Opera Software, Nokia and Qualcomm.
Their plan is “to bring affordable access to selected Internet services to less developed countries by increasing efficiency.”
Internet.org is offering free apps on the front end, but is then selling mobile data packages on the back end. Full story...
