The father of the banker jailed for 14 years for fixing the Libor rate has claimed his son is a 'scapegoat'.
Tom Hayes became the first man jailed over the banking scandal this week after he was found guilty of conspiring to fix rates for profit.
But Hayes's father, Nick, has hit out at the 'disproportionate' sentence his son was given while no banks have been prosecuted.
He insisted his son was 'at the bottom of the chain' and was used as a 'scapegoat' to send out a message to others.
Mr Hayes, a former TV producer, told The Times: 'I'm horrified shocked and appalled by a sentence which seems brutal in the extreme and well out of line with other people who have done far more harmful things are far more vicious ways.' Full story...
