The wife of a senior Indian minister and former UN chief publicly threatened to divorce him over his alleged relationship with a Pakistani journalist after she posted their private messages on Twitter.
According to the messages Shashi Tharoor, India’s human resources minister and a former candidate for United Nations Secretary-General, had been having an affair with Mehr Tarar, a high profile journalist in Pakistan.
Mr Tharoor, who has more than two million followers on Twitter, suffered acute embarrassment when his wife, Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor posted a series of private messages between her husband and Ms Tarar on his timeline.
One, which appeared to have to been a direct message to the minister from Ms Tarar’s account, @mehrtarar, declared: “I love you, Shashi Tharoor. And I go while in love with you, irrevocably, irreversibly, hamesha [always]. Bleeding, but always your Mehr.” Full story...
