Even the brightest geography student might struggle to locate Guinea on a world map. Not so Tony Blair.
The former prime minister has visited the west African country at least seven times in two years.
The visits coincided with a £3 billion mining deal signed last month between the Guinean government and Mubadala, an Abu Dhabi investment fund, to develop a bauxite mine and aluminium plant.
The agreement was announced at a conference hosted by the Gulf state and attended by Mr Blair and Guinea’s president, Alpha Conde.
It has opened up Mr Blair to claims of a conflict of interest because he is an adviser to both Mr Conde and Mubadala. Full story...
