ONE of the Boston bombing suspects has died, while a massive manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the second after a dramatic gun battle in the suburbs of the city.
The Boston bomb suspects are reportedly brothers from the Russian region near Chechnya – plagued by an Islamic insurgency stemming from separatist wars – and have lived in US for at least a year.
The surviving suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, while the killed suspect has been named as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, law enforcement officials have said.
Both men had international ties with military experience, according to reports.
"We believe this to be a terrorist. We believe this to be a man who has come here to kill people. We need to get him in custody," said Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis.
"There is a terrorist on the loose who wants to kill people - do not open your door," officials warned.
Residents confined to their houses have posted images of armed officers outside their homes. Full story...
