The Beatles' iconic "Abbey Road" album cover, showing the four musicians on a zebra crossing outside their London studios, is being used to promote road safety in India.
Supratim Sarkar, the joint commissioner of the traffic police, said he believed their profile should be a big enough incentive for people to take notice.
“The Beatles touched thousands of lives with their music and we are simply trying to use their universal appeal to save lives," he told the BBC.
Musician Neel Dutt expressed his approval of the initiative to The Telegraph India. He was quoted as saying: “Calcutta has had a long love affair with The Beatles and if that can make people abide by rules, then nothing like it.” Full story...
