A high court judge has caused outrage in India by saying it is fine for a husband to beat up his wife - as long as he was taking good care of her.
The controversial comments were made during a domestic violence case at a court in Bangalore.
A 28-year-old woman had complained to the court that her husband regularly beat her up.
She also told the court he had once thrown her out of their house.
According to Headlines Today, Justice Bhaktavatsala told the woman that all women suffer in marriages and that she had to adjust to her husband.
'Your husband is doing good business. He will take care of you. Why are you still talking about his beatings?', he said. Full story...
