An internet pirate who made £35,000 a month from adverts on his illegal website which allowed people to download films and TV shows will be jailed today.

Anton Vickerman's surfthechannel.com received 400,000 visitors a day and was in the world's top 500 most popular sites at one point.

The 38-year-old from Gateshead was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to defraud in June following an eight-week trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

After the jury returned its verdicts he was granted bail but was warned by the judge that jail was "inevitable".

The defendant's wife Kelly, 39, was cleared of the same charges. Full story...
