10-year-old girl signed by football club AC Milan...

She took part in what they thought was a sports tournament to keep her occupied in the resort of La Manga.

They did not realise the event had been arranged by AC Milan – and after five days, scouts from the Italian giants asked permission to sign her up to their European academy annual tournament.

The young midfielder will now join a handful of selected youngsters from similar summer camps across the continent. Aisha will also become the first girl to play in the tournament in October.

Her father, Michael, 44, a roofing business owner, said: ‘We are so proud of her. We just enrolled her to keep her busy because we thought she might be bored. I couldn’t believe it when it turned out scouts from Milan were watching.

‘The scouts said they have never asked a girl to join their academy before but they saw her play and knew immediately she would be able to hold her own among a load of boys.’ More + photos...
