Another melodious voice was silenced when popular female Pashto singer Ghazala Javed was shot dead along with her father at the busy Mohallah Nau in Dabgari Bazaar Monday night.
Farhat, younger sister of Ghazala, remained unharmed as armed men opened fire at the good-looking vocalist in the once popular market for musicians. The police launched investigation to ascertain whether the killing was linked to terrorism or former spouse of the vocalist had any role in the incident.
Ghazala Javed had filed a case in the family court for dissolution of marriage. She had got married last year, but had a troubled family life. The police said the younger sister of Ghazala told investigators that she along with Ghazala and father, Javed Mohammad, were going to a beauty parlour in Mohallah Nau in Dabgari when armed men opened fire on them.
Investigators said Ghazala, in her 20s, received six bullets in her chest, stomach and other parts of her body. Farhat escaped unscathed. An official of the Lady Reading Hospital said Ghazala and her father had already succumbed to injuries when brought to the hospital. Full story...
