American author Alice Walker has refused to allow a new edition of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple to be released in Hebrew by an Israeli publisher.
She announced the decision on Wednesday in a move aimed to voice her opposition to the Jewish entity’s “apartheid,” policy and its cruel treatment of the Palestinian people.
In a letter sent to Yediot Books, the publisher which had sought rights to print a Hebrew edition of Walker’s novel, the pro-Palestine writer and activist said, “I am hopeful that one day, maybe soon, this (release of the book) may happen. But now is not the time.”
