Incredible. 61-year-old Joynal Abedin is a rickshaw driver in Bangladesh. He earns $6 a day.
He dreamt of building a much-needed hospital in his village of Tanhashadia as the nearest one was a two-day walk from there. Also, when he was much younger, his father was ill and sadly passed away as they couldn’t afford to take him to a hospital that far. “I was so angry. People here think that because we are poor, we’re helpless. I wanted to prove them wrong,” he said.
And so for 30 years, Joynal plugged away, putting aside half his daily earnings as a rickshaw driver. By age 60, he’d saved up $3000 in total and was able to bring his dream to fruition. He built it! And now the village hospital, though small, treats 300 patients a day. More + video...
