Depressed over the birth of a fourth daughter in a row, a 30-year-old man committed suicide by jumping into Chambal river in Kota. Police said that his wife had given birth to a girl child which had depressed him very much. Minutes after the birth at a hospital, he went missing and later his body was found floating in the river on Wednesday.
According to the police, the deceased, Ranjeet Kumar, was a resident of Ladpura in Nayapura police station area of Kota.
"Ranjeet already had three daughters and used to say that he would get a son this time," said a police officer.
He added that his wife was admitted at a hospital on Tuesday for child birth. "He was in the hospital till the daughter was born. As soon as the hospital staff told him about the girl child's birth, he started weeping and went missing," said the officer. More...
