A uniquely Indonesian alternative form of healing, electric current therapy, where the sick endanger their lives by lying across railway tracks has been copied in Malaysia.
A spokesman for Malaysia’s national railway company, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, said people, mainly foreigners, particularly Bangladeshis, were lying on railway tracks in the hope the electrical energy from the tracks would cure them of their illnesses.
‘We are not sure if this works, but it is clear to us that this is a dangerous act,’ he told the New Straits Times.
